ARTICLE – SAFETY OF ENVIRONMENT

 

Introduction.

All the natural resources especially air, trees, animals, water and forests have a deep concern with our environments. The animals provide food to the humans in the shape of meat, eggs, milk and, plants give us all types of grains, vegetables and fruits. The forests and trees reduce the heat of pollution from the atmosphere, reduce the chance of flood, and absorb harmful gases. The plants purify the water, clean the air and help to provide a calm and peaceful environment for humans, animals and birds. The natural environment is the main source of income for humans. Its benefits are countless, even we cannot survive without natural environments like air and water. To fulfil the needs of light, heat and energy power, some natural resources as such coal, natural gas and oil are used. A lot of materials and substances of natural resources are being used directly or indirectly for construction, manufacturing and production purpose. Human life only exists on the earth planet with the solar system, but our natural environment is being adversely affected day by day due to the fast-spreading of pollution in the atmosphere. New viruses are appearing, causing the pandemic lethal disease, and death cases of humans, animals and birds are increasing.  Overall age limit of all types of live species is also decreasing due to increasing lethal pollution in the environment. There is no doubt; that efforts are being made at all levels to control the pollution for the safety of the natural environment. 5th Jun of every year is being observed as environments day. Following steps should be taken by us for the safety of the environment.

• Do Not Misuse the Natural Resources.    We should be more responsible and conscious regarding the use of natural resources. On the earth, water is our main and important natural resource but we misuse it frequently in different ways. It has been observed, that people are using freshwater for washing vehicles and clothes. Even some of us use the bank of the irrigation canal as a washing pit and use the water from the canal. In this way, some quantity of used polluted water goes to the irrigation canal. The water gives loss to the fertilizer of agricultural land, plants and crops. Watering the unnecessary beautification plants of the garden is also a misuse of natural resources. A huge quantity of water is being wasted due to the non-availability of a modern system of irrigation.

• Do Not Smoke. In the all world people are smoking cigarettes. Smokers are spreading environmental pollution by releasing toxic into the atmosphere. Cigarette butts and used sticks match are commonly seen scattered here and there without proper disposal. And that’s material drains to rivers and sea with the chemicals. Fishes and other live species eat the material so chemical goes into their bodies. When humans and birds eat those fishes so the chemical is transferred to them. The chemical pollutes the water and soil also. Smoking is injurious to health because smoking develops a lot of diseases in the body of humans. Smoking is a cause of global warming and it should be banned.

• Save Your Forests.     Our forests play an important role to maintain the natural environment. Cutting down the forest is a cause of damage to the environment. During the construction of houses, a huge quantity of wood is used for the preparation of the doors, windows, ventilators and roofs. In the areas where snowfalls are common, people of these areas construct wooden houses. Wood is also being used frequently for furniture of houses and offices. People are still using wood for heating purposes which becomes a cause of pollution. All such acts are against the safe environment.

• Misuse Automobile Vehicles.    At the world level, automobile vehicles are being used for personal conveyance and transportation of luggage. The present automobile transportation system is the main factor for spreading the pollution in the environment. A lot of mechanically unfit vehicles are included in our local transportation fleet, mostly these vehicles meet with accidents, resultantly financially and a precious life loss occurs. It has been observed that some drivers stop their vehicles at all route stops for 10 to 15 minutes for filling the vacant seats of passengers, but they do not switch off the vehicle. The vehicle continuously consumes the oil and also spreads the pollution in the atmosphere. Some Riksha drivers and taxi drivers have also been found to do so. Medically and physically fit people also use their personal automobile vehicle to go for a short distance while they can go there on foot easily.

• Cover the Sewerage System.      Our open sewerage system should be covered properly for the safety of the environment. The inadequate sewerage system leaves a bad smell in the air atmosphere which becomes a cause of disturbance of those area dwellers. During the rainy season, the dirty water spreads water-borne diseases and damages the environment.

• Pick Up Litter.     For the safety of the environment, we should have to be cleaned our areas as per the principles of hygiene. Our homes and street litter be disposed of properly at the garbage points nominated by the Municipal Committee or Local Government. Some people dump the garbage in ditches or in other down places for levelling the ground or refilling the land. Such dumping becomes a cause of pollution in the air.

• Reuse the Plastics Items. Used plastic items are a cause to spoil the natural atmosphere. A large no of used plastic bags go into drains and stop the dirty water as well go to the rivers and sea and become the cause of environmental pollution. The best disposal of used plastic material is that it should be recycled for reuse. We should use cloth bags for porting vegetables, fruits and other domestic commodities items instead of plastic bags. In this way, individually we can play our role in maintaining a safe environment.

• Control the Birth Rate.  The demand for all things required for human life is enhancing day by day as the population is increasing. To fulfil the demands manufacturing industries are consuming the raw materials and also producing a huge amount of pollution and contaminated water. Efforts are being made to control the birth rate but fruitful results have not yet been received. Bold steps would have to be taken so that the safety of the natural environment could be ensured.

Consequences.   

The present situation of our safety environment is alarming. We should have to be changed our bad habits individually and collectively. At the national and international level, existing policies may be revised according to the on-ground present situation. Those countries that are doing well in the improvement of the environment should be welcomed. The Modern science of environmental technology should have to be followed seriously in the field of agriculture, manufacturing, extracting of raw materials, energy production and modern transportation practices for the safety of the natural environment.
