MOTIVATIONAL CONTENTS – DECIDING
POWER
2. Charles Duhhigg is a generalist and author. He
has written for The New York Times and presently writes for The New Yorker. As
a columnist and senior editor, Pulitzer Prize has been awarded to him. His
following two books are very famous in the world:-
a. The Power of
Decision.
b. The Secret of
being Product.
3. Charles Duhhigg proves in the book that habit is a science. He has claimed, in the past, that all successful people have passed so far were the products of their habits. Good people are products of good habits and bad are products of bad habits. Rich peoples are rich in their rich habits, poor people are poor due to their poor habits and weak people are the product of their weak habits. Failed persons are the product of their failed habits. Nature cannot be changed, but habits can be changed. If you want to change in yourself, change your habits, and if you want to change in your family, you would have to be changed the habits of your family. In this way, you can bring a change to your society, country and world. All people, societies, nations, states and countries are respectable. However, I would like to mention here the example of those three countries, they how did exemplary progress within 50 years after the 2nd World War.
- China. Chinese adopted a habit to do hard work. They have made it a mission of their life to work hard. Therefore, presently China is a strong country in all respect.
- German. After World War, Germany decided to fight against poverty instead of any nation, state or country. Germans have proved themselves, they had taken a great decision with great deciding power. Right after fifty years of the World Ward, they had become a happy and financially sound nation.
- Japan. After the world war, Japan was transferred to home technology. Nowadays, if you check the domestic use equipment and small machinery, you will find the majority of these items have been made in Japan.
4. Charles Duhhig was issuing a lecture to some people, during the session of question and answer, a man from the pavilion put a question if an option is given to us that we can choose only one habit in our life so what habit we should be chosen?. He replies with a smile that when I was writing the books, I had also asked this question to a lot of intellectuals and they replied, deciding power. If we decide to make ourselves an engineer or doctors, we become engineers and doctors. Who decided to make themselves a politician, became politicians. We are the product of our decisions.
5. If we want success, we would have
to be taken good decisions. Now the question is this, how can we make a good
decision? This is easy and simple. Just you would have to be decided without delay. Delay in the decision is your and your concerned people’s wasting of time. Your time is
very much precious; you cannot imagine its cost. Time does not wait for anyone.
Your wrong decision is best than to do not do a decision. If you do not decide that time comes soon when you regret to do not do a decision. Thrive to improve your decision-making habit.
Do not pay attention to the people, what are they saying about your decision. Do
not change before completion what you have decided.
6. Once upon a time, a washerman was living in town with his family. He had established a laundry point out of the town on the bank of a stream. He had a donkey, he used him for carrying the clothes from the shop to the laundry point and back. He was a very hard worker. His customers were happy with the provision of his good service and, therefore, his business was expanding day by day. So he decided to sell the donkey and purchase a vehicle for carrying the clothes from the shop to the washing location. One day, the washerman and his young son got up early in the morning for selling the donkey in the market. When they were going to the market, the father was riding on the donkey and his son was walking. Some old people saw them and said, “how is a father who himself is riding but his son pedestrian”. On listening to these words, he got down from the donkey and asked his son to do the riding. They took a few hundred steps forward. There some men and women were working in the fields, they saw them and gave the remarks, how is the young son, he is himself riding and, the father is walking. In the meantime, a man crossed them and said, that both appear nonsense because despite having a donkey, one of them is walking. Based on these comments, the father and his son changed their 2nd-time decision, and both rode on the donkey. Now they were passing through a village, the villagers saw and started saying that both people are cruel. Because ridding of the two persons on an old donkey is a pitiless and criminal act. They again changed their decision for 3rd time and got down. Now they decided to pick up the donkey on their shoulders. When they reached the market, people were laughing at them. The washerman and his son were very tired, they down on a big stone and got injuries. Finally, they killed the donkey, which was brought by them for selling out. This story gives us the following moral lessons.
- Do not act upon the advice of those who advise you without your saying.
- Decide to do not to advise others without their asking.
- Your strong decision is your success. A weak and flexible decision is an irremovable obstacle in the way of your goal.
- What you want just decide to do it, and then close your ears for success.
It is good post
